Cancer Survivors Conference - The purpose of this event is to bring awareness to all types of cancers along with education, motivation and life application. Cancer experts, survivors, advocates and other organizations come together to learn and share ways to prevent and control all types of cancers. It brings together individuals at all stages of survivorship to learn things that can help move them beyond the cancer experience. Survivors, caregivers, co-survivors, family and friends are empowered to live better, healthier lives. Attendees are given information they can use to regain some of the HOPE and control they may have lost while dealing with cancer and help them move forward and feel supported while doing it. This event will honor those who have survived the disease and will remember those who fought and lost their battle. This event shows compassion to all.
Domestic Violence – “Break the Silence” – October is Domestic Violence Awareness month. It is a time when we nationally stand in solidarity with domestic violence survivors and inspire action to stop the cycle of abuse. Domestic violence (Battering) is against the law. Everyone should have the right to live without physical, sexual, verbal, mental, or emotional violence or the fear of such abuse. This event is designed to help raise awareness in the fight against violence as well as to celebrate and give honor to survivors who stood up to stop violence in homes. The purpose of this event is to educate all attendees and provide information so they would know what to do if they were caught in a bad situation; to let them know that there are places for them to go and people to talk to about it.
Red Heart Affair Gala – Heart Disease is the number 1 killer of
women. This affair is held in honor of National Heart Awareness month to
raise awareness of heart disease and to create cardiovascular wellness through
education and prevention throughout NE Ohio. The purpose of the gala is
to help individuals (particularly women) build healthier lives, free from
cardiovascular disease and stroke and to encourage general heart health by
learning about risk factors, cholesterol reduction and how to recognize the
warning signs of heart attack and stroke. Various health screenings will
be provided by local hospitals, a medical professional will share important
information about heart health, smart eating and exercise; and heart disease
survivors will share personal stories about their experiences with heart
disease, heart attack or stroke. This event is held each year on
the last Saturday in February.
